Pelikan Pelikano Junior - Quick Take Review
by author name author awarded score: 70/100
Pelikan Pelikano Junior - $10.50. Found at Executive Essentials.
Pelikan graces the student market with two pens. Each has a different bit of styling but is aimed at a similar market. The Pelikan Pelikano Junior is the more hip design of the two pens – I suppose. It has a larger diameter textured grip and a clipless cap. The style of the nib appears to be the same between both pens. These pens come in a variety of colors that must appeal to school aged children. I didn’t care for the “Pelikano Junior” in bold letters on the clip. It seemed to have a negative connotation that I wouldn’t want if I were a young student. It begs the question – why am I junior? My son reminds us all the time that he is not a little boy but a big boy and he’s only three. More important than the lettering issues, I also found the grip to be uncomfortable for anything more than taking a quick note. It’s not the kind of pen that I wanted to pick up again after using it the first time. The other knock against this pen is that they use Pelikan cartridges (or you can buy a Pelikan converter) which are hard to find; however, a standard International cartridge works fine in these pens. If you prefer the long cartridge then the readily available option is the long Waterman cartridges. Essentially, the Junior is a nice writing pen that is not really comfortable to hold.
