Getting Things Done
I've been using the Getting Things Done book and methodology talked about in the David Allen book "Getting Things Done". It's made a huge difference in the way I'm able to keep track of things. At the office most of my world revolves around e-mail and the Getting Things Done add-in for outlook take my mail and can create acitons or calendar items from it. I use my Franklin Planner with pages from diyplanner.com for keeping track of my actions, notes, and various projects. My Franklin holds two fountain pens. A Lamy Safari in charcol with a fine nib and a Wing Sung 237 in Orange Celluoid from Norman at hisnibs.com. I'm really impressed with how comfortable and well the Wing Sung writes.
The Lamy is loaded with Lamy Blue and the Wing Sung is loaded with Private Reserve 2005 DC Supershow.

I had to limit posting in the forum to members only due to a spammer.
I apologize that our society is filled with such low life people who have nothing better to do than to make someone like me clean up their mess. They really should get a life. Bad Karma is heading for them!

I seem to have lost a three pen holder with three great pens in it.
My Parker 75 My Parker 51 My Hero dragon motif pen. I can't figure out where they are at. I'll miss the 75 more than the rest as I love the 75's design. The Hero was great for marking up copy and doing edits. The 51 was a nice writer.

I picked up some of this ink at the Chicago Pen Show and really like it. The blue is not as deep and rich as Penman Sapphire but is a great solid blue. Almost an electric blue. It has a little something extra that makes it interesting.

I know I'm not alone when it comes to people who have issues with Private Reserve blues smudging. I think they're problem is that they are too dye saturated and probably have too much of a Glycerine like substance in them. Thinning with a bit of water seems to slightly help.
I have moved back towards Waterman inks as my main inks of choice since Private Reserve needs to be tweaked to work right.
My make your own ink project is still slowly progressing. It's easy to make an ink that works 90%-95% right. That last 5%-10% of getting things perfect seems to be taking some time. I want to see how my latest batches behave over a period of time and how they behave with evaporation. I believe that this feedback will help me get the final recipe right.

I had a great time at the Chicago Pen Show. Major kudos to all of those who made the event a success.
For once I concentrated on adding to my collection rather than making inroads on items that are not a focus of what I collect.
I was able to find a great first year Eversharp Symphony in blue with the metal threads on the body. I also came across a couple of cap styles that I didn't know existed for the second generation pens.
While I mostly concentrated on Symphony's I did come across a couple of nice cheap pens. A metal Waterman with a Fine nib and a strange looking Sailor pen with an Asian Fine.
Had a great time at the show and it was a nice to take a day off and enjoy looking at pens rather than playing with computers.

House projects and life have kept me from posting lately. I'm still playing around with inks and am looking forward to the Chicago Pen Show this weekend.

The ink turned out to be a little bit too quick to flow. Probably a function of having too much surfactant. My plan is to reformulate my ink this weekend and see how it turns out.
